Fruit Packaging

Brief

Blender was required to introduce a New Zealand fruit to the high end international market through premium packaging and POS display. The packaging concept would not only need to be innovative and attractive, but provide the fruit with ample protection during transport and display situations.

Outcome

The result is a cost effective, environmentally friendly design with many key features for ease of use and recycling. Aimed at the snack size fruit purchase only 3 pieces are held in each package. The Package is made up using two identical plastic halves and an elasticised band and label. The design allows the fruit to be stacked for transportation and POS display while also protecting the fruit from damage. The package halves can be easily stacked inside themselves for shipping and the labels can be recycled and reused. Because there is no sticky label residue left on the package, the recycling process is made simpler and faster. As an option the labels could also be part of a return and reuse program offering subsidized future purchases.
